Keep on Blogging! blog 10
I have really enjoyed this semester. I have had the chance to experience a virtual relationship with my fellow LSUS classmates, which has been great. I have sympathized with you, shared with you, and learned from you. I have to say that this blogging experience is going to stay alive for me. I'm going to keep on blogging, because, it is a way to blow off some steam, and share thoughts that may help motivate people. This semester has been tough, but I'm making it happen. I hope that you all will keep on blogging! I really enjoyed reading your blogs and I wish you all the best of luck in your careers after graduation.

Why college? blog 9
I'm sick and tired of the negative attitudes some people have toward college. I had a co-worker express his disagreement with a college education to me. He words were, "A college education is a waste of time, because, if you want to know something just buy the book and teach yourself." I have been working with this guy for the past 6 years, and all this time I thought he had a degree, because of his position as IT manager. He would choose a time, when I was studying for an astronomy test, to express his negative view toward a college education. I just sat there and listened to his opinion because everyone has an opinion.
I had to tell him, what college to meant to me. It is about redemption and success. It is about doing something positive in my life. It is about setting an example to the upcoming generations. It is about being credible when I speak. It is about taking advantage of the opportunity to do what was not available to my ancestors. It is about being the first of my mother's four sons to graduate from college. It is about not working on the assembly line. It is about not looking in the general employment section of want ads. And most importantly, it is about becoming an accountant. All of my reasons to go to college blew his reason to not go to college, out of the water!
I agree that college might not be for everybody, but in today's world you have to be skilled in something. It does not matter what you do in life, there are going to some people with a negative view about what you are doing. Ditch them, and keep on doing what you are doing. It will pay off in the long run.

Trick or Treat! blog 8
I love this time of year! This is the time to really get outside and enjoy the wonderful weather, the fair, and Halloween. I remember going trick or treating with my mother, and she would give us the instruction on how to get candy. We were to go up to a house that had a porch light on, knock on the door, and yell, "Trick or Treat." When the night was over and we returned home my parents would do a "scan through" of all the candy that we received to make sure there were not anyting tampered with. You can never be too careful when getting things from people, because there are some sick people out there.
Anyway, I remember all the different types of candy I had. I could not stand those peppermint patties, nor the butterscotches in my bag. I would discard of them, but the worst was when my parents would not let me have any freedom with the candy that was high in sugar like the snickers or nerds. They would would monitor my intake of those candies, because they knew I would over indulge myself. They were only trying to prevent me from making an early trip to the dentist.

Christmas vs Xmas!!!!Blog 7
I was reading an article the other day about the singer Christina Aguilera and I noticed the editor spelled her name Xtina instead of Christina. What is with the X in place of Christ. This country was built on christianity, so as Christians we should be proud of our religion and not X it out. You never see Muslims, Buddist, or Satanist X-out their religion. In my opinion, using X instead of Christ is either stating that the religion is questionable or shows signs of people being too lazy to spell the word "Christ" out. Christmas has become so commercial these days that people are forgetting the true meaning of the season.
We are suppose to be celebrating the life and death of Jesus Christ, not Jesus X. Don't get me wrong, I love giving and receiving gifts, too. This is the year we drop the X and start back spelling out the name Christ, because Christianity is a word that should be completely spelled out!!! Some things should just be left alone!

Follow your sign!!! Blog 6
I was surfing the Internet the other day and I came across and article that read, "Male Porn Star Tests Positive for HIV." Why am I not surprised? Why is the porn industry shutting down production, only to find every woman he has been in contact with? The safest sex is abstinence, but protecting yourself by using a condom can cut the risks down of contracting STDs. The article points out that unprotected sex scenes produce more money than unprotected sex scenes. Anyone in the porn industry who chooses to do unprotected scenes should not be surprised that they contracted HIV. The article stated that the porn industry has protocol to follow of testing actors/actresses in order help prevent them from contracting the disease.
I'm just curious of how many times that actor took the test and it came back negative. If the test came back negative after his first job in the porn industry shouldn' t that be his sign to get out of that life before it is too late. I know that some people like living on the edge, but you have to know your limits or you will get burned. Follow your sign. At some point, a person has to make a decision whether to live or die. It seems that the porn star chose the latter. Money is the root of all evil, and the devil succeeds when he entices you with that need for money. The porn star knew the risks of having unprotected sex and now he is going to be out of a job and basically hand in his porn card. I'm just using this article as an example of how important it is to keep your morals in tact and to never give up on your exit plan at first chance. After my first HIV test came back negative, I made a decision to never have unprotected sex until I got married. I chose to give myself a chance to live.

One Nation!!! blog 5
Last night, on the LSU-S campus, hip-hop artist Ludacris gave a live performance for LSU-S students only. I felt priveleged to know that only LSU-S students were the only people in this city who knew about the concert. A private concert is what it was. I attended the concert and I had a wonderful time with my peers. I would say that the attendance was about half of the UC- theater capacity, which I anticipated more. The crowd was so hype and the atmosphere was lovely. Ludacris performed all of his songs, dating back to the year 2000. I really enjoyed myself last night, because, I got a chance to step away from the demands of my school work and see a live Ludacris concert.
I have heard so many people classify LSU-Shreveport as a segregated/racists school. I could not tell from last night. Blacks, whites, latinos, and asians all came together to enjoy a free Ludacris concert. It was beautiful. I love to see different people from different backgrounds come together and have a good time. Since I became a student here in 2009, I have not encountered any type of segregation or racism from my peers. I have encountered passionate students, trying to graduate from college, and that is the attitude everyone here at LSU-S have. In my opinon, LSU-S does a good job with students interacting with one another by sponsering events like last night and countless others. It is all about being One Nation, Under God!!!!!!

A Helping Hand!!! Blog 4
This week has been such a busy week for me. Working a full-time job and going to school full-time demands hard work, dedication, and time. Although, I may have a busy schedule, I still find time to help others who are in need. I get great joy out of helping people, whether its giving a lost out-of-towner directions or moving a friend into a new home. Now, don't get me wrong, there are some people in this world that will take kindness for weakness, but I do not worry about them, because those people do not last long in this world. Earlier this week, I had the privilege of helping some of my classmates who were having trouble with an assignment. I was eager to help because I had prior experience with the task of the assignment. After the session, my classmates offered to take me out to lunch. I declined, because I did not mind helping them. In contrast to my actions, there are people in this world that will not help anyone, but themselves. For example, there was a family stranded on the side of the road. The weather topped at 100 degrees and I saw cars driving right by them. So, at the next exit, I got off and went to help them. The mother told me that they were stranded for at least an hour and I was the first person to stop and help them. I could not believe that in today's world people will not stop to help a family in need. I helped the family with the car and they wanted to pay me, but again I declined, because my blessings will come from above. I'm a believer in, "when you do good, good things will happen." Christmas should not just be in December, but all year 'round.

Life is a Test!!!!! Blog 3
All my life I have been taking tests and for what? Just so I can fail, then get back up again, and fail again. If it isn't the devil testing my faith, it's somebody at my job testing my patience! So, why do I have anxiety attacks before a test? You would think that I should be used to taking tests by now. Test to get my driver's license renewed. Test to get in and out of college. Test to live. Test to die.Test for this, test for that, test, test, test. I can recall, my very first test of riding my bike without training wheels. My father guided me, and guided me until he finally let go. The moment I realized I was riding by myself I got too excited, lost my focus, and rode straight into the neighbors tree. Afterward, I rode that bike like a CHAMP!!! Failure. Nothing beats a failure, but a try. How would a person know if they are good at anything if they do not try? Although some people may think they do not need to be tested because they have everything figured out. I got news for you, nobody has if all figured out. You have to go through something, in order to, get paradise in your life. Life is a test. So, I tell myself to get over it, take the test, and move on to the next one. From now on, I am going to look at tests, as obstacles that I will get over: pass or fail. With this attitude I believe I can get over my pre-test anxiety attacks. I started this post resenting tests, but I ended up feeling better about taking them. I gotta test Monday, so hopefully I can follow some of my own advice. I'm open to any suggestions on this subject.

Sept. 12, 2010 Rememberance Day!! Blog 2
What a difference a day makes. 9/11 is a day of rememberance where over 3,000 people lost their lives, yet they laugh and celebrate (middle eastern countries). How can a society of people celebrate the burning and crumbling of two buildings with people inside trying to survive. In my opinion, it seemed like the whole region knew this act of terrorism was going to happen because why else would you celebrate. Those people were celebrating because they felt victorious to see chaos on our soil. Evil celebrates chaos, tragedy, and death. This is why we should make 9/11 a national holiday. 9/11 should be made a day of rememberance, a day to reflect on why we go to work everyday, a day to pray for the victims families, and a day to be thankful we were not in those planes and buildings that went down.
9/11 should be made into a national holiday so that we do not forget! Maybe Labor Day and 9/11 can share the same weekend since both events are a week apart. Making 9/11 a national holiday will give us a reason to get back at the evil that showed up in our country that day. The one thing I know is evil hates joy and making 9/11 a national holiday will surely bring joy to this nation. For example, 9/11 will bring families together and give workers an extended weekend to relax. In my opinion, the intentions of Al Queda was to destroy the joy, freedom, and life of this country which we can't let happen. We can't bring back the people who were killed on 9/11/2001, but we can let them know that we will not forget them!!!!!!!

More for your Money!!!!
I love it when new cell phones, appliances, and gadgets come out. People rush to be the first to buy them at the highest prices possible then a month later they go on sale. I prefer to call them lab rats or guinea pigs simply because those people are going to be the determining factor if something is worth me buying. I'm a real fan of bargain shopping because I'm not rich so I have to be smart about getting more for my money. I just can't see myself waiting in line for hours just to be the first person to make a purchase of something at the most expensive price when it will be on sale later on. I know that buying now will give the economy a boost, but I must give the economy a boost later when things become more reasonable for me to buy. I can remember when I was in school some of the fortunate kids would show up to school with a pair of $150 shoes on their feet. The killer part of it is that some students would skip school to wait in line to purchase the shoe. Not me because I had patience. I would wait until the sale came and I would buy the shoe and a nice shirt or whole outfit to match. Some people put emphasis on keeping up with the latest trends so much to the point that it put them in a financial bind. With today's economy being so unstable one must be attentive to his/her spending because being careless can catch up with you and put you in the poor house. Nobody wants to be in the poor house with a $150 pair of shoes on their feet!
